MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING

May 17, 2010

 

     President Larry DuSavage called the meeting to order at 11:56AM. Trustees present were; Roberta Messinger, Larry Stanfel, Lenore Stanfel, Kim Leach, Clint Geiger, Joy Smith Nick Tomassi, Barbara Maines, Arlene Runberg, Larry DuSavage, and Fern Whalen.  Guests present were; Jack Roudebush, Dorothy Rasmussen, and Doug Stauner.

 

     Secretary’s Report - There were no additions or corrections to the April minutes as printed in the May newsletter and they were accepted as presented.

     Treasurer’s Report - The Treasurer’s report was presented by Barbara Maines and will be placed on file for audit.

      Correspondence – Larry sent a Thank You letter to Jason Parker, our April speaker.

 

Committee Reports

     Operations – Lenore Stanfel has asked Board members to provide her a schedule for their planned use of the Community Center rooms next year.  Kim reminded everyone to lock the storage room file cabinet after use. Larry D. asked Lenore to provide a check-out sheet to the building custodians who keep a spare key to our storage room.

      Membership – Jack Roudebush gave the report that we had 9 membership renewals today.   

      Hardware – Kim Leach has purchased a new laptop computer for the Club’s use. It is a Toshiba, with a 15.6 inch screen, 500 Gb hard drive, a 4 Gb memory, with a complete 3 year warranty.

       Education – The open lab on Tuesdays at the Mountain View Middle School is still being held, Larry D. will have a class covering Windows 7 on 25 May at the school.

      SIGs – Warren Beauchane says membership and attendance at his MAC class is going well.

     Programs – Clint Geiger has scheduled as speakers Scott Bosch of Harrison Medical Center for June, Tony Liegel, of Silverdale Office Depot for September, and Randy Hardin of Abiding Homecare for October.

     New Horizons – Fern Whalen reported there was no meeting in this month, there will be one in June.

     Public Relations and Sunshine Committee – Roberta has no reports.

     New Business – Larry DuSavage asked the Board if they would support his plan to have a “Mystery Person” at each month’s meeting.  The Board agreed to support this endeavor.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Roberta Messinger our Vice President, New Horizons Member and Sunshine Representative for the wonderful coordination of the Family Conference in April and the Older American Conference in May. She also leads us in the Pledge of Allegiance at every main meeting.

Special note from the Genealogy Society

 

KCS member Dave Skelton will present a program on "Genealogy and ID Theft on the NET" at the Puget Sound Genealogical Society meeting on June 23, 2010.  Dave is a retired Detective Sergeant of the Long Beach Police Department who spent 14 years specializing in identity theft and check/forgery fraud.  See the PSGS webpage at
